Story: 8/10 – Great

Kokoro Connect is about Five Students from the Cultural Research Club who have been targeted by a supernatural being named “Heartseed”. Throughout the series the five main characters namely; Taichi, Iori, Inaba, Yui, and Aoki go through bizarre phenomena that “Heartseed” is responsible for. There are three arcs in Kokoro Connect each having 4-5 episodes each, including Michi Random which is the additional episodes to the season. Each arc has a different phenomena and you’ll be surprised how entertaining and deep this anime really is.

Theme: 8/10 – Great

Kokoro Connect deals with the Deconstruction of the Characters through strange phenomena. For those who aren’t aware on what Deconstruction is, it is breaking down the normal pattern. In Kokoro Connect, you would think you understand the characters. You would think you already know what will happen but there will be something hidden from you that when revealed changes the whole ball game. These kinds of themes are hard to pull off but Kokoro Connect did a great job on this.

Characters: 9.5/10 – Excellent

The characters of Kokoro Connect were presented beautifully. Everyone did not lack character development. Everyone had things that you’d love about them. Many would say “Heartseed” was a weird and bad antagonist for the series but for me it wasn’t weird or bad. The fact that Kokoro Connect had a very supernatural plot allows for a supernatural character to exist. One of the flaws of the series in my personal opinion was that Iori was more of a main character than Inaba. Yes, bias included Inaba best girl.

Visuals: 6/10 – Slightly Above Average

Kokoro Connect didn’t have the best graphics but it was good.

Music: 4/10 – Slightly Below Average

The music of Kokoro Connect doesn’t really stick to you. It was forgettable, but the scenes had okay music.

Pacing: 9/10 – Excellent

At 4-5 episodes per arc, the series did a great job in utilizing this screen time. It wasn’t too long that it would drag and it wasn’t too short that it felt rushed.

Ending: 7/10 – Above Average

Kokoro Connect had good endings per arc, nothing too spectacular but nothing average as well.

Overall Enjoyment: 10/10 – Perfection

Kokoro Connect is one of my favorites. It is one of those anime that you can finish in one sitting despite it being 17 episodes all in all. You’d enjoy the jokes and the character development of each character in the series. No one got left behind.

Score: 7.68/10 – Above Average

All in all, Kokoro Connect is one series that I would never regret watching. Sadly the producers of the show got into some issues and we most probably would not see a second season for this show, but the anime is great. It is still worth watching even if there isn’t any continuation.
